5G Touch & Track - Telstra
True story - this is probably the only idea I've ever presented, and won, a pitch with that actually ended up happening. And it couldn't be a better case study.
It's important, genuine, powerful. Everything I love.

The problem
Australians love sport. But not everyone can enjoy it equally.
Over 450,000 people in Australia are either blind or have low vision, and a third support an AFL Club. But they can't experience the thrill of live games like those with 20/20 vision. And the options to keep them up to speed are limited. Many listen to radio commentary, but this is laggy and often they will hear the roar of the crowd before they fully understand what's happening.
The solution
In 2022 Telstra Touch & Track was unveiled - an Australian-first prototype designed to dramatically enhance the game for the vision impaired community by putting the action directly into their hands.
After three years of extensive testing, the installation of bespoke ball tracking cameras, and liaison with relevant stakeholder groups including the AFL, Marvel Stadium, Vision Australia, and our partners Field of Vision and Champion Data, the technology was ready to be deployed in 2025. With 40+ devices made available for loan at Marvel Stadium, this marked a first for accessibility in Australian sport.
From pitch, to prototype, to product.
This wasn't just a flash-in-the-pan, it was a genuine long-term commitment to Aussie communities and a tangible demonstration of Telstra's network.
